Korean Baby Names

Korean given names have traditionally been comprised of a unique name plus a name shared by all people within the baby's generation (siblings and cousins) of the same gender. One given name is not considered more important than the other. Korean baby names are typically two characters (or syllables), although by law they can go up to five syllables. As of this writing, South Korean laws restrict given names to a list of 8,142 possibilities. Korean baby names often depict positive personal traits or parts of nature. Gender may be determined by the order of certain characters, and there are names that are more associated with male or female, as well as gender-neutral baby names.
